Purpose:
 

This qualification equips learners to become professional hairdressers capable of performing hair and scalp treatments, cutting and styling hair, and delivering chemical hairdressing services.

  • Shampoo, condition, and treat hair and scalp.

  • Style and cut hair.

  • Perform chemical colouring and reformation hair services.

  • Deliver professional client services.

 

Target Audience:

  • Aspiring and current hairdressers.

  • Barber shop workers.

 

Entry Requirements:

  • NQF Level 1 with Mathematics.

 

Qualification Modules:

  1. Knowledge Modules (e.g., Introductory Studies, Hair Cutting, Communication, etc.).

  2. Practical Skill Modules (e.g., Shampooing, Styling, Cutting, etc.).

  3. Work Experience Modules (e.g., Hair Cutting, Chemical Hair Treatment Services).

 

Assessment:

  • Internal assessments via practical demonstrations, role-playing, and written tests.

  • Workplace evidence showcasing real-world competence.

  • Final integrated summative assessment.

 

Certification:

  • Trade Test Certificate issued by QCTO upon successful completion.
